La Cornue ranges and range cookers we service
A Château built to order outside Paris and a production CornuFé share neither parts nor adjustments. We know every collection.
La Cornue collections, our specialty
La Cornue Château ranges
Château 75, 90, 120, 150 and 165, hand-assembled in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône: gas or electric vaulted ovens, brass burners, French top and brass, copper or nickel trim.
La Cornue range repair, installation and maintenance by specialists
A La Cornue range is nothing like an ordinary stove. Since 1908, when Albert Dupuy built his first vaulted oven near Paris, the French maison has designed its ovens around natural convection, and every Château is still hand-assembled to order in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône, in the colours, trim and cooktop configuration its owner chose. Entretien Universel has worked on premium gas cooking equipment since 1995, and La Cornue is at the heart of our specialty. We are one of the few companies in Quebec that repair, install and maintain the entire La Cornue line, from the Château 75 to the Grand Palais 180 and the CornuFé, anywhere in the province.
La Cornue range diagnostics and repair
Every visit starts with a methodical diagnostic, not guesswork. We identify your range's collection and configuration, measure gas pressure at the inlet and manifold, test thermocouples, igniters and burner valves, check electric oven thermostats and elements, and verify the seal of the cast-iron doors. You get a clear explanation of the problem, the part involved and the cost before we go ahead. A La Cornue range is built to last for generations, and we repair it in that spirit, part by part.
Château, Châtelet and Grand Palais range repair
The Château 75, 90, 120, 150 and 165, the Châtelet 120 and 135 and the Grand Palais 180 are built to order, and almost no two are configured the same way. On the cooktop, we repair brass burners that light poorly, go out on simmer or burn yellow; we replace thermocouples, spark plugs and valves, and adjust the power burner, French top, lava-rock grill and teppanyaki. In the oven, we fix gas ovens that won't stay lit, failed electric broilers, drifting thermostats and electric ovens with a stalled convection fan. On double-oven models, each cavity is tested and adjusted separately. We also know older Château ranges, many of which have cooked in Quebec homes for decades.
The La Cornue vaulted oven: tuning and calibration
The La Cornue vaulted ceiling circulates hot air naturally, with no fan in the gas oven, so roasts stay moist and baking stays even. That design depends on a well-tuned oven burner, a reliable pilot or igniter, an accurate sensor or thermostat and a door that seals perfectly. We check the air-gas mixture, flame stability, the cast-aluminium door seal and the cavity's true temperature, then run a calibration bake. Electric convection ovens are checked the same way, element by element.
CornuFé 90 Albertine and CornuFé 110 range repair
The CornuFé brings La Cornue styling to a ready-to-install dual fuel range. The 36-inch CornuFé 90 Albertine has five brass gas burners and one large multifunction convection oven; the 43-inch CornuFé 110 has two, behind French doors. We fix burner ignition and re-ignition, convection fans, bake and broil elements, sensors, controls and door hinges. On induction models, we diagnose power boards, pan detection and cooling.
A Château cooktop is composed à la carte, and each element fails in its own way. The cast-iron French top, hottest at its centre, needs a well-centred burner and precise adjustment. The lava-rock grill must heat evenly without a yellow flame. The electric teppanyaki depends on its element and thermostat, and induction hobs on their power electronics. We know these combinations and return every cooking zone to its original performance.
A La Cornue range is kept for a lifetime, and many Quebec kitchens have one that is twenty or thirty years old, sometimes bought along with the house. These older Château ranges do not always share the valves, thermostats or safety devices of current models, and their documentation is scarce. We start by assessing the range: tightness of the gas connections, thermocouple operation, the condition of the brass burners and door seals, and oven accuracy. Then we give you a clear plan: repair what needs repairing, replace worn safety components and keep the range's original character intact. When you move or renovate, we also disconnect, relocate and reinstall your La Cornue safely, so it keeps cooking in its new kitchen exactly as it did before.
La Cornue range installation and gas connection
A La Cornue range is heavy, adjusts to the millimetre and only delivers its performance when installed to its specifications. Our team holds RBQ licence 8259-8822-21 and is a CMMTQ member: we install Château, Châtelet, Grand Palais and CornuFé ranges, including the natural gas or propane line, shut-off valve, regulator, electrical connection for the ovens, levelling and start-up tests. Where the manufacturer approves it for your model, we convert the range from natural gas to propane, a frequent request for Quebec chalets. For renovations, we work with your designer or contractor so clearances, ventilation and supply lines are right from day one.
La Cornue ranges use parts you won't find at an ordinary parts counter. We order genuine La Cornue parts based on your range's model and serial number and confirm the lead time with you before the repair. If your range is recent, have the purchase date handy: we check with you whether the repair falls under the La Cornue warranty and how it will be handled.
Regular maintenance prevents most service calls. Our La Cornue tune-up includes cleaning and adjusting the brass burners, testing ignition and thermocouples, checking gas pressure and connections for leaks, calibrating the ovens, inspecting doors and hinges, and adjusting the French top and grill. A yearly visit keeps a La Cornue range cooking like the day it was installed.

Frequently asked questions
Your La Cornue range questions answered
1
Do you repair La Cornue ranges in Quebec?
Yes. Entretien Universel is a La Cornue authorized service provider and serves all of Quebec. Our technicians know the Château, Châtelet, Grand Palais and CornuFé collections, and we use genuine La Cornue parts.
2
Which La Cornue models do you repair?
Every La Cornue range: Château 75, 90, 120, 150 and 165, Grand Palais 180 and Château Suprême, Châtelet 120 and 135, CornuFé 90 Albertine and CornuFé 110 in dual fuel and induction, plus the Flamberge rotisserie and older Château ranges.
Our rates start at $260 and vary by the region served. The rate for your area is confirmed when you book, and any part required is explained before the repair.
4
Do you serve my region?
Yes. We cover all of Quebec, from major centres such as Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, Gatineau and Sherbrooke to remote regions. For remote areas, your visit is scheduled in advance and the travel rate is confirmed when you book.
5
What is the difference between a Château and a CornuFé?
The Château is hand-assembled to order in France, with a choice of gas or electric ovens and an à la carte cooktop. The CornuFé is a 36 or 43-inch dual fuel or induction range that ships ready to install. Their parts and adjustments differ, and we work on both.
It is on the appliance's rating plate, whose location varies by collection and year. The La Cornue documentation for your model shows where it is. Can't find it? Send us a photo of the range and we will help.
My Château gas oven won't stay lit. What should I do?
The most common cause is a weak thermocouple or flame safety device, sometimes an igniter or thermostat. This is not a do-it-yourself repair: call us. If you smell gas, leave the premises and call your gas utility or 911.
8
My La Cornue oven bakes unevenly. Can it be fixed?
Yes, in the vast majority of cases. On a gas vaulted oven, it is often a poorly adjusted burner, a worn door seal or a drifting thermostat; on an electric oven, an element or convection fan. We test each component and confirm the result with a calibration bake.
9
Do you install new La Cornue ranges and gas lines?
Yes. Our RBQ-licensed team installs La Cornue ranges and the natural gas or propane line, connects the electric ovens and converts between the two gases where the manufacturer approves it for your model.
10
How soon can a technician come?
It depends on your region and on parts availability, as Château parts can ship from France. Our office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and emergency service is available for gas appliances. Call (514) 940-6525 for the next available appointment.
11
What does “piano de cuisson” mean for a La Cornue range?
“Piano de cuisson” is the French term La Cornue uses for its premium ranges, including Château and CornuFé. In professional kitchen vocabulary, “piano” refers to cooking equipment. In Québec, these appliances are also sold as “cuisinières”; in English, they are ranges. Whether you request La Cornue range repair or service for a “piano de cuisson,” we care for the same appliance according to its collection and configuration.
